QUT Open Access Journals

These open access, peer reviewed journals are published at QUT

Each journal has its own Editor and Editorial Board members or team to manage the peer review process and other activities associated with publishing a high-quality academic journal.

Content is published under a Creative Commons Attribution Licence and there are no article processing charges (APCs) to be paid by authors.

These journals are published with the support of QUT Library's eJournal Hosting Service, using the Open Journals System (OJS) software.

International Journal for Crime, Justice and Social Democracy

The International Journal for Crime, Justice and Social Democracy is an open access, blind peer-reviewed journal that publishes critical research about challenges confronting criminal justice systems around the world.

Law, Technology and Humans

Law, Technology and Humans is an international, open access, peer-reviewed journal publishing original, innovative research concerned with the human and humanity of law and technology.

M/C Journal

M/C Journal was founded in 1998 as a place of public intellectualism - analysing and critiquing the meeting of media and culture.

International Journal of Critical Indigenous Studies

The International Journal of Critical Indigenous Studies disseminated scholarship across the Humanities, Social Sciences, Health Sciences, Law and Education in the field of Indigenous Studies. This journal is now archived, and the last issue was published in April 2022.

QUT Law Review

The QUT Law Review was a generalist and transdiscplinary law review that also published special editions on topical legal themes. The last issue was published in March 2019.

Journal of Learning Design

The Journal of Learning Design was an open-access peer-reviewed multidisciplinary forum concerned with the systematic study and investigation of pedagogy and learning design in higher education, with a focus on the innovative use of technology. This journal is now archived, and the last issue was published in 2017.

Student Success

The Student Success journal is an international, open-access, peer-reviewed, scholarly publication exploring the experiences of students in tertiary education. Student Success was supported by QUT Library from 2010 to 2024. It is now supported by UniSQ Library.

About QUT Open Access Journals

QUT's Open Access peer reviewed journals are edited and managed by academic staff at QUT, backed by expert and discipline-led editorial boards.

QUT Open Press can offer guidance and support for the implementation and hosting of new journals, specifically:

  • Information about, and access to, Open Journals System (OJS), open source publishing software
  • Advice around use of Creative Commons Licensing
  • Instruction regarding the use of persistent identifiers in metadata (DOIs, ORCID)
  • Assistance related to long-term preservation and permanent archiving
  • Guidance regarding indexing of journals and inclusion in aggregators and databases (e.g., Web of Science, Scopus, DOAJ: Directory of Open Access Journals)
  • Advice on adhering to standards of quality and integrity and inclusion of ethical guidelines and policies (e.g., Committee on Publication Ethics).
