Licensed electronic resources
Copying of materials from databases and electronic book and journal collections to which the University Library subscribes (e.g. Proquest and ScienceDirect), is governed by licensing agreements between the University and the database provider. In general, under such agreements students or staff may print or save limited amounts for their own study or research at QUT. Systematic printing or downloading is prohibited. Please refer to the Library's terms of use for further details.
When using a reference management tool to share or collaborate, it may be a breach of database licence terms to share full text published documents.
Many copyright owners make their material openly available on the web for individuals to use. In many cases, they explicitly grant to viewers a licence to save and/or print the material for personal or educational use. Check the terms and conditions of websites to see what is permitted. There is an online service to help you find licensed media that you can legally share and reuse for free available at the Creative Commons Search website.
