Scanning for the public

Scanning services are available on all campuses for both A4 and A3-sized documents.

You can scan to your email or a USB at student printers in computer labs and libraries across all campuses.

Self-service scanning is paid for automatically using prepaid credit on your print account, which is linked to your guest card and your guest username and password.

How to scan to email

You can scan documents and have them sent to your guest email address. To scan to email:

  1. At the printer, log in by typing in your guest username and password.
  2. Your print account balance will be displayed, choose 'Next'.
  3. Press the 'Email' icon on the touch screen to see email settings. Change any settings you need to, like single or double sided.
  4. Place your document face down on the glass copier, aligned with the top-left corner. Alternatively, place your document face-up in the document feeder.
  5. Select large green 'Start' button.
  6. Log out by pressing the green 'Log In / Out' button next to the touch screen
  7. Your scan will be sent to the email that is registered with your guest account.

How to scan to USB

  1. At the printer log in by typing in your guest username and password on the touch screen.
  2. Your print account balance will be displayed, choose 'Next'.
  3. Place your document face down on the glass copier, aligned with the top-left corner. Alternatively, place your document face-up in the document feeder.
  4. Insert your USB into the USB port.
  5. Press the 'Store to USB' icon. If prompted, press 'Confirmed'.
  6. Change any settings you need to, like single or double sided. Select the 'Layout Adjustment' tab for more setting options if needed.
  7. On the 'Filing Options' tab select 'File Name' to name your file. Type in file name. Press 'Save'.
  8. Go back to the 'Store to USB' tab and press 'Save in'. Select the folder where you want to save your file. If you want to select a sub-folder select 'Next'. When you have chosen the right folder, press 'Save'.
  9. Select large green 'Start' button.
  10. Remove your documents.
  11. Once the 'data saved' reaches 100%, remove your USB.
  12. Log out by pressing the green 'Log In / Out' button next to the touch screen

How to scan multiple pages to a single file

As you scan your first page, select Next Original on the touch screen and then start to scan your next page to the same file. Once you complete scanning your document, press the send Last Original button to complete your scan.

For other options select the Layout Adjustment tab and then select the options available to customise your scan.

Scanning costs $0.05 per page (A4 or A3).
