Orientation
All QUT students can attend the free, comprehensive orientation program. The program includes sessions on:
- computing & online services
- research skills in finding information
- study skills
- library tours and classes
Your Faculty and/or School orientation will not cover these topics. kickSTART, studySMART contains information about these orientation activities as well as workshops that run throughout the year.
Branch Libraries
QUT Library has four branches
- Gardens Point Library, V Block
- Kelvin Grove Library, R Block
- Law Library, C Block, Gardens Point
- Caboolture Library, B Block

Within the libraries you will find:
- computer labs
- group study rooms
- group study rooms with networked PC and/or projection equipment
- quiet study areas
- lounge and reading areas
- newspaper reading areas
- quiet talking areas
- Library Catalogue terminals
- photocopiers and networked printers
Material in the libraries is organised into collections and then shelved by call number. How do I find an item on the shelf?
Borrowing
My Library Profile
My Library Profile is your borrowing library record and secure login for when you use the online services. You can:
- see what you have on loan
- renew your loans
- place requests for intercampus loans
- save searches and the results
- see what you've borrowed previously
You need to have your QUT ID card to borrow from the Library. Find out all about

- borrowing conditions and penalties
- borrowing a laptop
- getting material held at another campus library delivered to your branch library
- finding your recommended readings and unit course material on the CMD (Course Materials Database)

Electronic resources
The Library also holds many electronic resources such as ebooks, images, encyclopaedia journals. To find these and other electronic resources use the Find section of the Library web site
