QUT students and staff can request delivery of items which are not held by QUT Library. Our document delivery service will attempt to locate and supply items from another library or commerical document supplier.

Request items
- Always check the QUT Library Catalogue to make sure QUT library does not hold the publication you require.
- Choose the appropriate online request form.
- Provide as much information about the item as possible.
- Indicate if the request is urgent by completing the “Needed by” field on the online request form.
- Fill in the “Source of reference” field with the details of the database, catalogue, book, article or paper where you identified the item being requested.
- Note any special requirements in the "Additional information" field on the request form, for example: "English language only" or "Colour copies required".

Collect items
Collect articles and book chapters
Where possible, documents are delivered electronically. You will be notified via email when they are ready for collection. The email will provide you with information to enable access to the document stored on a secure web server.

When copyright or licensing restrictions prevent electronic delivery, the document will either be sent to you via internal mail or held at the Library Help Desk of your home campus library for collection.
If you have any problems with documents you receive, visit the troubleshooting page or contact Document Delivery staff.
Collect books and videos
Items obtained on loan from another library, such as books and videos, will be held at the Library Help Desk of your home campus library. You will be notified via email when they are ready for collection. You are required to present your ID card when borrowing the item.
FAQs
How do I check the progress of my request?
You can view your requests by logging into My Library Profile. Under the heading View your borrowing details, select x Interlibrary loan request(s).
Your requests will only be visible via My Library Profile when Document Delivery staff have actioned your request. This may take up to 24 hours after the submission of the online request form.

If an item disappears from your list of requests, check your email for notification of delivery or cancellation.
How long will it take?
It is not possible to guarantee a time of delivery for items requested. Delivery is dependent upon a number of factors including accuracy of the details provided, availability, supplier workflows and the time spent in transit. Only some of these factors are within the Library's control. All requests are processed as quickly as possible and suppliers are chosen for their reliability and efficiency.

Is there a cost?
There is no direct cost to the client for making a request.
