Information Guide for Journalism at QUT - This resource has been built specifically to support journalism students at all stages of their academic development. It includes subject help guides for KJB101, tutorials to help you acquire strong catalogue and database search skills, and resources of value in improving your generic journalism skills.

Unit Objectives
Upon completion of this unit, you should be able to:
- Use electronic tools in journalistic exercises (eg. in computer assisted reporting).
- Use software such as word processing, databases, spreadsheets, the internet and e-mail in preparing news copy and feature material.
- Combine these practices with more traditional journalistic methods such as interviewing.
- Demonstrate enhanced general skills and critical thinking in the appraisal of sources, ethical consideration of material and copy writing.
- Debate in an informed way themes such as the place of new technologies in the future of journalism as a profession.
