Relevant databases

Databases will help you to locate and retrieve references, abstracts and fulltext to reports and journal, magazine and news articles on specific topics.

The Library Catalogue will link or locate journals and other periodicals by publication title but does not allow you to search the records of items IN them. Databases will enable you to develop your searches for sources on topics by allowing you to search article titles, abstracts and subject terms and by providing options for limiting results to increase relevancy.

Databases may be used as finding aids only (indexes), or search tools to repositories (collections), or both. They may be citation-only or include fulltext; usually they are a mix. Where you find a citation to a journal article without full text, it may be available in elsewhere. You should then perform a Title search via the library catalogue, using the Title of the journal (NOT the title of the article). Using the other information in the citation, navigate the library catalogue to link to electronic access or locate the hardcopy of items in journals, newspapers, magazines or conference proceedings available to QUT.
