This information is designed to assist students with finding information on both Australian and international companies. Information may be available in print resources in QUT Library collections. It may also be available in electronic sources such as library subscribed databases or via the World Wide Web. This list is not intended to be comprehensive but is designed to provide a "starting point" for students beginning research for assignments.
Finding general company information
Directories provide general information about companies, including names, addresses, ownership, directors and staff, company activities, earnings data and share prices. Directories usually list companies alphabetically by company name and company director. Most directories index public companies (listed on a stock exchange). Many companies also have a Web site with contact details and general information about products and services.

Finding financial information and annual reports
Some print copies of company annual reports are collected and shelved in the library. To locate print copies of annual reports, perform a KEYWORD search in the library catalogue for the name of the organisation and the term "annual report" e.g. annual report national library of australia. In Australia, all government departments and quasi-government organisations are required to submit an annual report to parliament and these are published in Parliamentary Papers.
The library also subscribes to a number of annual report databases, however they usually only contain information on publicly listed companies.
Many cooperatives as well as private and public companies include copies of annual reports on their Web site.
In Queensland, a cooperative must file an annual report with the Registry of Cooperatives which is maintained by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT). These annual reports are viewable by the public, however there is a fee applicable to viewing and/or copying annual reports which hinges on the number of pages involved. The Registry of Cooperatives is located on Level 20, State Law Building, 50 Ann St, Brisbane QLD.
