In this demonstration you will learn how to connect QUT Library to Google Scholar.
Why? Because Google Scholar + QUT Library = An easy way to search scholarly literature on the web, without being prompted to pay for any QUT subscribed content.
If you’re starting from Google www.google.com.au select Google Scholar.
We’re now at scholar.google.com.
To connect to QUT Library, select Scholar Preferences.
In library links type Queensland University of Technology.
Click Find library and see Queensland University of Technology appear.
Click the checkbox next to Queensland University of Technology.
Then save your preferences. Next time you’re using your computer QUT will be connected.
You’re now able to connect to QUT Library through Google Scholar... but how does it work?
Let’s search for Global media.
Here are the results. Scholar finds books, articles reports and more...
Some books may be previewed online by clicking the Google Books link.
For QUT subscribed research look for the link Get fulltext @ QUT.
Follow the read this article link to read online. If we don’t have electronic access you can cross check by clicking the link to the library catalogue.
As usual, you will need to log in to enter the database.
Look for PDF or Full text, click to view or download.
Don’t forget advanced search.
