When searching for a book you have the option to search by:
- Author
- Author and Title
- Title
Use and Author search when there are multiple resources with the same title, e.g. Ethics.
Use an Author/Title search when both the Author and the Title are common, e.g. Ethics by Healy.
In most cases you can use a simple Title search.

To locate the item in the library you need to note the:
- Item location
- Call number
- Status
The Item location tells you which branch holds the item and which collection the item is held in.
The Item location is linked to a description which indicates where the collection is located.
A link to the floor plan is provided.
The Status indicates whether the book is available for loan, Available indicates the item is on the shelf.
A Call number is used to locate the item on the shelves in the library.
Full stops, spaces and slashes separate the different parts of the Call number.
These punctuation marks must be written down correctly in order to find the item on the shelf.
Now, when you have a reference to a book, you should be able to search the library catalogue to locate it.
