All PLoS articles are immediately freely accessible online, are deposited in the free public archive PubMed Central, and can be redistributed and reused according to the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License. Description:

Public Library of Science is a nonprofit organization of scientists and physicians committed to making the world's scientific and medical literature a freely available public resource. PLoS publishes peer-reviewed, open access scientific and medical journals that include original research as well as timely feature articles.

PLoS Journals

  • PLoS Biology: features works of exceptional significance in all areas of biological science, from molecules to ecosystems, including works at the interface with other disciplines, such as chemistry, medicine, and mathematics. 2006 Journal Impact Factor = 14.101 (JCR)
  • PLoS Medicine: aims to promote translation of basic research into clinical investigation, and of clinical evidence into practice. 2006 Journal Impact Factor = 13.75 (JCR)
  • PLoS Computational Biology: features works that further our understanding of living systems at all scales through the application of computational methods. It is ranked as the most highly cited journal in the Mathematical and Computational Biology category by ISI. 2006 Journal Impact Factor = 4.914
  • PLoS Genetics: reflects the full breadth and interdisciplinary nature of genetics and genomics research by publishing outstanding original contributions in all areas of biology - human studies as well as research on model organisms - from mice and flies, to plants and bacteria. 2006 Journal Impact Factor = 7.671
  • PLoS Pathogens: publishes on bacteria, fungi, parasites, prions, and viruses that contribute to our understanding of the biology of pathogens and pathogen-host interactions. 2006 Journal Impact Factor = 6.056
  • PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases: launched in November 2007, it is the first open-access journal devoted to the world's most neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), such as elephantiasis, river blindness, leprosy, hookworm, schistosomiasis, and African sleeping sickness.
  • PLoS Hub for Clinical Trials:collects PLoS journal articles that relate to clinical trials. The Hub is a site for researchers to share their views and build a dynamic, interactive community.
  • PLoS ONE: features reports of primary research from all disciplines within science and medicine. Published papers are made available for community-based open peer review involving online annotation, discussion, and rating.

  • When an article is accepted for publication, PLoS/Allen Press send an invoice to the corresponding author.
  • QUT authors may forward their PLoS/Allen Press invoices to Stephanie Bradbury, Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation, and the fee will be paid by QUT Library .
