Looking for Australian newspapers? Try searching Aust/NZ Newspaper and Reference Centre - Unlike Factiva.com there is no limit to the number of users that can access this database at any one time, making it the perfect choice for finding fulltext Australian newspaper content

Factiva.com is an interdisciplinary news, current affairs and research database providing access to nearly 8000 publications, including local and international newspapers, newswires, magazines and journal sources. Extensive company information is provided, including financial data for more than 42,500 worldwide companies (from Reuters Investor) as well as access to historical market data and interactive charting.

Documentation & Help:

    Factiva Quick Reference Cards - each topic references the most important features and time-saving tips for Factiva.com. They are not step-by-step instructional guides and assume familiarity with the product.
    1. Search Tips - a quick guide to the key search operators and connectors, and display options.
    2. Standard search - covers Factiva Intelligent Indexing, and building a custom source list.
    3. Inside-Out Complete Reference Guide - a very large (1.87Mb, 32-page) user manual suitable for advanced users.
    4. Company research tools - using the Companies/Markets tab.
    5. Managing results - adding items to a briefcase, emailing results, get articles similar to the one you're viewing, and printing your results.

    To export records from Factiva into Endnote:

    1. Search Factiva
    2. Mark records
    3. Change View As to Headline, Lead Paragraph and Indexing (from a drop down menu on right of screen)
    4. Choose the Save option (disk icon).
    5. Select Article Format
    6. When the records are displayed select the File menu, then Save As. Save the records as a text (.txt) file
    7. You will need a filter which can be downloaded from the University of Queensland's Filters site.
      • Right click on the filter and select Save As.
      • Save the filter into your EndNote Filters Folder. This is usually found on your C: drive under Program Files/EndNote/Filters
      • If you have EndNote open when you import the filter you will need to close the program and then re-open it.
    8. In EndNote, select File, Import then select the uq_factiva filter.
