QUT Library offers numerous employment opportunities across a diversity of roles, working hours, branches and sections.  It also provides opportunities for professional practice placements for students in library and information science courses.

QUT Library Employment Opportunities

We offer short-term, casual or fixed-term employment depending on positions available and workload requirements during the year. Employment vacancies are generally filled by means of a central register of applications which are held by the Library Staffing Officer. Interested persons may register themselves for possible short-term (i.e. up to six months) employment in the Library by completing and submitting via email the Employment Registration Form below. Long-term positions (i.e. over six months) are advertised on the Employment Opportunities @ QUT page and interested applicants are required to adhere to the application process as detailed.

Receipt of employment registration forms for short-term employment will not be acknowledged. However they will be retained on the central register for approximately four months. After this time it will be necessary for individuals still interested in employment at QUT Library to re-apply online. As vacancies arise, suitable candidates will be selected from the central register and contacted for interview.

Professional Practice Placements

Each year QUT Library supports the profession by providing fieldwork opportunities to current students and recent graduates of library technician / librarianship / information management in all areas of lending, reference, systems and technical services. Interested candidates should contact the Library Staff Development Officer, Deb Warren, on 07 3138 2492 or d.warren@qut.edu.au at least 6 weeks before the preferred placement date.
